Size: 21cm Weight: 686 Grams (weighted base) Hallmarked Birmingham 1864 Makers Charles Henry White & Francis Henry Hawkins A highly decorative Sterling Silver Trophy awarded in 1865 in the Auckland annual races. This magnificent trophy was donated by Mr Lewisson, a jeweller, at the value of 15 Sovereigns. The cup was to be won by horses "bone fide the property of officers the colonial forces, on the day of entry, and ridden by the same" thus this award was presented to the winner Captain F W Ruck, and his horse Kathleen which came in first. Captain Frederick William Ruck was an officer in the Waikato militia and was presented with a New Zealand War medal likely dated 1861-1866.
