Soviet Russian Marine Break Circuit Chronometer in perfect condition. Complete with outer red velvet cover, guard box and gimballed bowl movement inside inner case & key. Completely overhauled and in perfect running order this chronometer is of Soviet Russian manufacture and dates to the 1940's. The chronometer was made using expropriated Swiss machinery. Break Circuit Chronometers (also called survey chronometers) incorporate a switch that closes an electrical circuit each second except for the 59th second of each minute. The purpose being to enable an audio cue over earphones to give an audio cue as to the arrival of the minute.
