Rare surviving example of the German Pickelhaube in excellent condition. An unmistakable symbol of Prussian militarism, the pickelhaube (also known as a pickelhelm) was the staple for the German military during the early 20th centenary. Its iconic spike that served no purpose, and its leather, or sheet metal body that offered the wearer little protection, resulted in the pickelhaube being abolished during the first world war.
