Charles Swanson attested into the 4th Railway Pioneer Regiment at Kaalfontein on 22/2/1901. He gave his next of kin as Otto Swanson of East Taieri, Otago. Charles discharged at Cape Town on 10/5/1902. Albert George Augustus Swanson: Service Medal of the Order of St John, struck in silver, with two 5 Years Service bars. Engraved 2303.D/O A.G.S.SWANSON. OTAGO DIS. N.Z. SJAB.O 1938. N.Z. United Fire Brigades Association, 5 Years Service Medal, with two 2 Years and one 6 Years service clasps, reverse inscribed 'Foreman/A.G.A.Swanson/By The/New Zealand/Government/6-9-1914. H.R.F.B. Albert George Augustus Swanson served with the 15th (NZ) Company, Imperial Camel Corps and the 2nd NZ Machine-Gun Squadron NZEF during WW1. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of St. John in 1950. William John Swanson (son of AGA Swanson). The St John Ambulance Association, Re-examination Medallion in silver, year bar for 1938, reverse inscribed '439813/William J. Swanson'.
