Queens Service Order & WW2 Medal Group to Robert Geoffrey Ramshaw

Realised: $1,000 plus premium

Lot Details

The Queen's Service Order for Public Services and WW2 Pacific Star medal group awarded to Robert Geoffrey Ramshaw, late of Arrowtown. Robert Ramshaw was born in Durham, England in 1924, and came to New Zealand with his family when two years old. His WW2 service is unknown as his service has not been obtained, but his medal group suggests it may have been with the RNZAF - this requires verification. He subsequently settled in Arrowtown, where he ran a butchery and served on the local council. He was elected deputy mayor of Arrowtown, served on the Queenstown Council and was a Justice of the Peace. In the 1984 Queen's Birthday Honour's list he was made a Companion of the Queen's Service Order for Public Service. He died in 1998. The QSO is correctly engraved ROBERT GEOFFREY RAMSHAW, and the WW2 medals are unnamed.
