Rewi Moynihan served on Gallipoli with 7th (Wellington West Coast) Company, Wellington Infantry Battalion, and was wounded on two occasions. Firstly on 12th May, he suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh. He returned to his unit on the peninsula in late July 1915, and was wounded again during the chaotic fight for Chunuk Bair in 8th August 1915.
