General Service Medal 1962 with Northern Ireland Clasp, Elizabeth 11 South Atlantic Medal with Rosette (Battle for the Falkland Islands), UN Medal for Bosnia-Herzegovina. Comes with set of Miniatures, Army Files, and photographs. The first two Medals are official replacements. Mike Leather served in Northern Ireland, Kenya, Belize, the Falklands and Bosnia-Herzegovina. He was a Certified Combat Engineer, Plant Operator and Parachutist. In 1982 he was attached to 3 Parachute Regiment and fought in the assault on Mount Longdon during the Falklands Campaign. 9 Parachute Squadron served as Infantry during this Battle in addition to specialised tasks. The Battle for Mount Longdon was fought over three days in June, 1982. Mike was involved in the brutal boulder-to-boulder fighting over 12 straight hours. Mike was lucky to survive a large piece of shrapnel narrowly missing his head and lodging an inch away in his Dugout. Out of 450 men, 70 were killed or wounded.
