Lot Details
Provenance: As close to perfect as possible. Purchased by our vendor en Primeur and stored in a purpose build temperature and humidity controlled cellar ever since. Robert Parker 90/100 "Composed of 50% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot and aging in 45% new barriques, the deep purple-black colored 2018 Ormes de Pez leaps from the glass with vibrant blackberries, black cherries and mulberries scents plus touches of garrigue, tree bark and bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied with bags of muscular fruit, it has a firm, grainy texture and great freshness, finishing on an herbal lift." Decanter 93/100 In a vintage marked by strong climatic contrasts, Château Ormes de Pez – owned by the J.M Cazes family – has produced a beautiful 2018 Saint-Estèphe with dazzling wealth and structure. The winter began with rain and the spring continued with heavy storms bringing a significant mildew pressure. The summer that came after, from the month of July onwards, favoured a beautiful ripening of the fruit. At Château Ormes de Pez, the grape harvest began on September 20th and ended on October 9th, yielding perfectly healthy fruit of exceptional quality, with a great richness of polyphenols and sugars. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (41%), Merlot (50%), Cabernet Franc (7%) and Petit Verdot (2%), the Château Ormes de Pez 2018 is matured in French oak barrels (45% new wood). The grand vin of the property, the Château Ormes de Pez 2018 presents the typicity of a great Saint-Estèphe. The intense and expressive nose offers notes of black and red fruits. On the palate, the wine seduces with its richness and generosity, revealing a beautiful tannic structure. The persistent finish ends with beautiful liquorice notes. A beautiful Saint-Estèphe in a great Bordeaux vintage. https://www.millesima.com/chateau-ormes-de-pez-2018.html
