Lot Details

Recommended by Pegasus Bay for cellaring up to 2050, the 2011 vintage (5*) is from botrytised Waipara grapes, harvested in June, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for two years in French oak barriques (50 per cent new). From grapes which were ‘super-ripe’ before noble rot shrivelled them into ‘perfect raisins’, it is a deep gold, very sturdy (14.5 per cent alcohol), Sauternes-style wine. Lush and very sweet (270 grams/litre of residual sugar), with notably concentrated, peachy, honeyed flavours, and hints of apricots and raisins, it’s already hard to resist. Overall Rating for All Vintages Tasted: ★★★★✰ – 4.5 Stars Michael Cooper Note: Cellared in a temperature controlled cellar since purchase
