A fine example of a rare german regimental stein. This stein is 500ml and the title reads "Bavarian 8th Infantry Regiment Grosherzog Friedrich II von Baden 10 Company Metz 1907/09" Extremely detailed hand painted scenes of military interest. The central image is of Prince Luitpold of Bavaria and Friedrich II of Baden. Regimental details are in the top section. The base of the piece has a translucent image of a Bavarian soldier and maiden, this is especially prominent when held up to the light. The Stein is finished with a magnificent pewter top with foliate in high relief and a detailed lion on the top of the hinge and a soldier with a lion on the top of the top.
