1831 Pattern Gladius, French Sword & Scabbard

Fine 1831 pattern French artillery short sword complete with original period scabbard. Modelled off the 1816 pattern, the 1831 gladius has a heavy brass handle with the grip and quillion decorated with rings and scrolls respectively. This example has a slight bend to the blade terminal but is otherwise in good, unrestored condition. Scabbard proximal stamped with an obliterated serial 1144 over 77. Blade impressed for Talabotes, Paris. Blade length: 47.5cm, overall length when sheathed: 67cm.
