The 1914/15 Star and British War Medal issued to the next-of-kin of 1/517 and 10/2476 James Alexander Young, who served during the capture of Samoa in 1914 with 5th (Wellington) Regiment, on Gallipoli with the Wellington Infantry Battalion, and then was killed in action on the Somme in 1916 with 1st Battalion, Wellington Infantry Regiment.
