The British War Medal issued to 37741 William Francis Blacklow, who served in Samoa with the Samoan Relief Force 1917-18. He returned to New Zealand as medically unfit, and was discharged in October 1918. He was issued Silver War Badge NZ11624. The British War Medal is his full entitlement and correctly impressed 37741 PTE. W. BLACKLOW. N.Z.E.F. Together with his son's United Fire Brigades Association of N Z, Long Service Medal for five years service, in silver (39mm) by Anton Teutenberg, Auckland, with two 2 Years Service bars, reverse inscribed 'Fireman / W. John Blacklow / by / Ross V.F.B. / 13-8-29'.
